The Art Collection Telekom founded in 2011 contains of nearly 300 art works by around 80 artists. Most of the works are presented in specially conceived temporary exhibitions internationally in museums and und public institutions. Please follow our news section on the website or the app for updated information about these exhibitions.

A few selected works are on display at the Head Quarter of Deutsche Telekom in Bonn – at request also for guided tours – and in Berlin at Konzernhaus and Magenta Mitte.

With the presentation of a work by Czech artist Eva Kotatkova in the Rotunda and a new acquired work by Ukrainian artist Maria Kulikovska in another space of the Xawery Dunikowski National Museum of Sculpture in the Krolikarnia Palace, the Art Collection Telekom took part at the Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2016.
The exhibition anticipated a larger survey exhibition with works from the Art Collection Telekom in all spaces of the Krolikarnia during September and October 2017.

The 57th Biennale in Venice opened it's doors. The main exhibition titled 'Viva Arte Viva' is curated by Christine Macel, chief curator of the Centre Pompidou in Paris since 2000, and takes place in the Central Pavilion of the Giardini and the Arsenale. Parallel to the main exhibition 86 National Pavilions take part in the Biennale, they are located in the Giardini, the Arsenale and in the city of Venice.

In her curatorial statement Christine Macel emphasizes on Viva Arte Viva being a "passionate outcry for the art and the state of artists - a Biennale designed with artists, by artists and for artists, about the forms they propose, the questions they ask, the practices they develop and the ways of life they choose'. She invited 120 artists from 52 countries. The exhibition unfolds around nine chapters named Transpavilions:

Six artists that are part of the Art Collection Telekom were invited to participate in the main exhibition of the Biennale: Nevin Aladag, Petrit Halilaj, Ciprian Muresan, Agnieszka Polska, Edi Rama and Mladen Stilinovic.
Three artists of the Art Collection Telekom are represented in the National Pavilions.
The Romanian Pavilion chose Geta Bratescu to represent her country, Bosnia and Herzegovina presents Radenko Milak and the Croatian Pavillon shows an installation by Marko Tadic.

Art Collection Deutsche Telekom presents at viennacontemporary four women artists from the Collection.
Portraits by Polish artist Aneta Grzeszykowska, Šejla Kamerić (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Maria Kulikovska (Ukraine) and works by Sanja Iveković (Croatia) center upon the self-representation and the image of women in society.
A live performance by Maria Kulikovska will take place at the vernissage and again on September 27 at the Deutsche Telekom Booth E02/F01.
In addition there will be the option to expierence a VR–Tour through the exhibition 'I Am The Mouth', which took place in spring 2018 at the MSU in Zagreb.

The fall of the Iron Curtain nearly 30 years ago laid the foundation to overcome the decades-long division of Europe into East and West, into Capitalism or Communism, into democracy or party dictatorship. The more than 80 works in the exhibition have been created during these 30 years. They are from over 40 artists, most of them grew up in Eastern European countries. These artists have experienced the process of the societal upheaval in their own biography and in that of their parents and grandparents.

This is your guide trough 'Listen To Us - Artistic Intelligence' with works from the Art Collection Telekom. The exhibition is part of the programme of the European Cultural Capital Plovdiv 2019. It takes place at six different venues: City Art Gallery, SKLAD, Balabanov House, Hindliyan House, Zlatyu Boyadzhiev Museum and the Ivan Vazov National Library.

Dans le cadre des Rencontres d´Arles 2019 Carré d´Art montre des oeuvres principalement photographiques de la collection Art Collection Telekom, qui a été fondée en 2010 et se concentre sur l´Art Contemporain d´Europe de l´Est et du Sud-Est. Le titre de l´exposition '30 Ans Après.' se réfère à l´oeuvre du même nom de Šejla Kamerić, mais aussi à la chute du rideau de fer il y a trente ans. Même aujourd´hui, trente ans après, il s´agit encore presque d´une tache blanche sur la carte pour beaucoup d´entre nous. L´exposition donne un aperçu dans la richesse culturelle du récent présent en Europe de l´Est et du Sud-Est.

Within the Rencontres d´Arles 2019 Carré d´Art shows mainly photographic works of the Art Collection Telekom. The Art Collection Telekom was founded in 2010 and focuses on Contemporary Art of Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The title of the exhibition '30 Years After.' refers to an artwork by Šejla Kamerić and on the fact that it has been 30 Years since the fall of the Iron Curtain. Even today, thirty years after, for many of us this region is still mainly unknown. One Information has passed into Protein...

The monumental sculptural installation ONCE INFORMATION HAS PASSED INTO PROTEIN by polish artist Iza Tarasewicz (*1981) is on view at the Museum der bildenden Künste until June 2021. In her artworks Iza Tarasewicz combines her interest for nature and science. Her installations often take the form of modulare flexible display systems.
ONCE INFORMATION HAS PASSED INTO PROTEIN is based on an analysis of information theory and the history of the research on DNA. The title is a quote from Francis Crick who came up with this how he called it 'central dogma' of molecular biology in 1958.
The sculpture is made of more then 1.000 aluminium tubes woven together into a hexagonal structure that seems to have no beginning and no end. A small movement, hardly perceivable, is created by the small motors. There is a constant move, the sculpture seems to breethe.
In molecular biology hexagonal structures are used for the representation of DNA. As a central carrier of information for nature. Nowadays scientists are working to harness the DNA's potential to store, generate and relay large amounts of data in a small space for computers and everyday life in the future.

Iza Tarasewicz: 'For the installation, I used a modular hexagonal structure related to chemical bonds, and in the interior, I have a three-dimensional diagram of the DNA building sequence. The smaller modular components (which are presented in different improvised configurations) are made of copper, which is a material new to my work, but are nice channels and conductors for energy exchange. All together, the composition is moved by 10 engines based on software programmed by an engineer.I am interested in chaos theory and how the slightest variances can effect great change. I am also interested in hylozoism, the idea that all matter, in some sense, is ‘alive’. While these ideas are commonly spoken of within the framework of mathematics, physics and philosophy. I explore them in the aesthetic realm through my intricate sculptural installations but also in my sketches, graphs, and models. ONCE INFORMATION HAS PASSED INTO PROTEIN points to the historical connection between information theory and biology, showing how living and communication systems share similar principles of exchange, transcription, translation, and combination that are both real and metaphorical.'

360° EXHIBITION TOURS

This tour offers the opportunity to visit digitally some of the exhibitions of Art Collection Telekom from the past years.

In 2014, around three years after its foundation, the Art Collection Telekom initiated with the exhibition ‘Fragile Sense of Hope‘ in Berlin a strategy to make the works from the collection visible also to a wider international audience. Since that time, large exhibitions under different themes were realized in co-operation with the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, the National Museum in Warsaw and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb.

The exhibitions from the last years with Kunsthalle Darmstadt, the European Capital of Culture Plovdiv, the Carré d’Art in Nîmes, and with the Ludwig Múzeum in Budapest in 2019/2020 have been documented in 3-D tours. In 2021/2022 we were able to show the Art Collection Telekom at the National Gallery / The Palace in Sofia and at the MoCA in Skopje, followed by an exhibition at the MG+ Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana in 2023. 2024 is marked by the exhibition 'Group Therapy' at the Stone Bell House / Prague City Gallery.

„Гледај тука сум без простор“ е интернационална изложба на која се претставуваат дела од Уметничката колекција на Телеком од најрепрезентативните уметници од Југоисточна Европа.
Миграцијата е суштинско искуство на дваесет и првиот век. Конфликтите предизвикани од „новите војни“, исклучувачките политики и продлабочувањето на глобалната нееднаквост, предизвикуваат поместување на голем број луѓе на маргините на светот. Уметноста во Источна и Југоисточна Европа е испреплетена со дисонантни гласови, кои ја издвојуваат својата посебност од исклучителните локални услови на драматичните територијални поместувања, формирање и распаѓање на држави, политички пресврти
и драматични последици, од кои не беа исклучени ниту уметниците.
Оттука, „Гледај тука сум без простор“ е изложба на дела од уметници од Југоисточна Европа, со намера да го осветли развојот на политичката клима, уметничко-политичките пејзажи, социјалните и технолошки случувања преточени во транснационални уметнички практики, и да најде точка на кохезија во прикажувањето на политиката и уметноста на овој регион.
Делата го претставуваат можниот процес на детериторијализација и нејзината инволвираност во социо- политичките и културните процеси. Тие се политичка критика на „исклучувањето“, односно на оние кои се наоѓаат вон доменот на правната и граѓанската политика, овозможувајќи им видливост и културно признавање во и надвор од симболичните простори, локални и глобални.
Преку предизвикувачки наративи и слики кои стануваат политички квалификувани објекти, а со намера да најдат заедничко место од позиција на различни територии и ситуации, делата дозволуваат субверзивни врски, создавање алтернативни системи на ред, револт кон познатите системи и провокација за критичко размислување.
Тие се коректив на историски наративи, коментар на радикалните нееднаквости во општеството, приказ на саморефлексивната свест за сопствените позиции на уметниците, но и критичко валоризирање на социјализмот и современи размислувања за уметничкиот идентитет
на регионот. Повеќе од кое било друго средство за шпекулирање, овозможуваат непречено да патуваме напред и назад од нашата субјективна реалност, до консензус за посакувана, а можна сегашност.
Главното прашање што се поставува е дали постои нешто
во овие посттранзициски држави што соодветно го третира минатото, за да ја прошири социо-политичката имагинација, да пропагира нови форми на меѓународна солидарност и да обезбеди основа за продолжување во иднина?
Оттука, преку поврзување на естетиката и политиката уметниците имаат за цел да предложат нов наратив за регионот и да го редефинираат начинот на перцепција на некогашните ситуации во нови прилики, кои поставуваат нов контрараспоред во културата на идеолошките трендови, што ја дефинираат политичката состојба во истиот.

See Me Moving Placeless

"See Me Moving Placeless" is an exhibition from the Art Collection Telekom, including works by the most representative Southeast European artists, aimed at illuminating the political landscapes, social developments, and finding a point of cohesion in presenting the politics and art of this region.
Migration is an essential experience of the twenty-first century. Conflicts caused by new wars. Transition troubles, and exclusionary policies have caused large numbers of people to move to the margins of the world. The question of whether there is anything in post-transition countries that adequately address the past to broaden the socio-political imagination, propagate new forms of international solidarity, and provide a basis for continuing to the future is more than relevant.
Hence, the presented works are a political criticism of 'exclusion', providing visibility and cultural recognition of those outside the realm of politics, in and out of symbolic spaces. These works allow for subversive connections, the creation of alternative order systems, revolt against known systems, and provocation for critical thinking. More than any other means of speculation, they allow us to travel back and forth from our subjective reality to a consensus on the desired, but possible present.
The intention of the exhibition "See Me Moving Placeless" is to propose a new narrative for the region by connecting aesthetics and politics and to redefine the way of perceiving former situations in new circumstances that are setting a new counter-deployment in culture.

На два етажа в Двореца са подредени над 70 произведения на 37 автори, от 21 страни, включително и България, от една от най-знаковите колекции за съвременно изкуство – тази на Deutsche Telekom, която бележи началото си през 2010 с фокус изкуството на Източна и Югоизточна Европа. Изложбата в Националната галерия е деветото голямо музейно представяне на Арт колекцията Телеком от създаването й до днес. Произведения от нея се показват не за първи път пред българска публика. Различното сега е в подхода на работа, селекцията, каталожното издание.
Кураторите Боряна Вълчанова и Мартина Йорданова избират темите политика и медии, които взаимно се допълват. Свързаните с първата тема произведения разглеждат войната, болката, цензурата, абсурда, бедността, сексуалната ориентация, еманципацията, влиянието на институциите – всички връзки и действия, които определят живота ни през последните години, като интерпретацията на авторите е от буквална до метафорична. Другата тема отразява взаимоотношенията на изкуството от Източна и Югоизточна Европа с масовите медии, тяхната промяна и влияние върху обществото, начина на живот и въпросите, поставяни от тях на дневен ред. Изразните средства варират от конвенционалните форми до видеото и инсталацията. Заглавието на изложбата показва ясно, че изкуството, особено съвременното, иска да общува с нас по много теми. То е средство за комуникация в реалността, в която живеем, споделяме и създаваме заедно.

Displayed on two floors of the Palace, there are over 70 works by 37 artists from 21 countries, including Bulgaria, from the Art Collection Telekom, launched in 2010 and focusing on the art of Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The exhibition at the National Gallery is the ninth major museum presentation of Art Collection Telekom since its creation. It is not the first time that Bulgarians see some of the artworks: the difference now is in the approach to the work, the selection, the catalogue publication.
The curators Boryana Valchanova and Martina Yordanova chose the topics of politics and media, which complement each other. The artworks relating to the first theme deal with war, pain, censorship, absurdity, poverty, sexual orientation, emancipation, and the influence of institutions—all relationships and actions that have defined our lives in recent years—with the interpretation of the artists ranging from literal to metaphorical. The second subject reflects the relationship between the art of Eastern and Southeastern Europe and mass media, their change and impact on society, lifestyle, and the issues they place on the agenda. The means of expression range from conventional forms to video and installation. The title of the exhibition clearly shows that art, especially contemporary art, wants to communicate with us on numerous topics. It is a means of communication in the reality in which we live, share, and create together.

REVIEW: HOW TO DEAL WITH THE WORLD

During Berlin Art Week 'How To Deal With The World' provides an insight into the Art CollectionTelekom. Telekom's art collection, which has been focusing on contemporary art from Eastern and Southeastern Europe since 2010, now comprises around 300 artworks by more than 80 artists.
The collection aims to promote the diversity of art, to enable dialogues and to support the development of democratic structures through diversity of opinion and controversial topics.
How we deal with the world, how we could or should deal with it, is a question raised in many of the artworks. In view of the rapidly growing environmental problems, the threatening conflicts up to war between open democracies, centrally controlled democracies and direct dictatorships, the discussion about values and attitudes plays an increasing role also in art. The works in the exhibition document the status quo, point in conceivable directions, develop new perspectives, and pose questions.
Some works by artists from Ukraine, which were already created in 2013/2014 during the years of the Maidan Revolution, form the starting point.
These include the drawings by Lesia Khomenko, directly created on Maidan, the two fragile passports made of clay - Russian and Ukrainian - by Ksenyia Hnylytska and the large panel painting by Volodymyr Kuznetsov, which addresses the fundamental question of violence against tyrants.
But also, the dreamy, longing and foreboding aspects play an important role in the paintings of Levan Chelidze and Brilant Milazimi or the portraits of Nino Kvrisvishvili.
The exhibition is curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher, who have been curators of the Art Collection Telekom since its inception. This also includes many exhibitions realized with selected works in recent years in museums in Bucharest, Warsaw, Zagreb, Darmstadt, Nice, Plovdiv, Sofia and Skopje.

MG+ | Moderna Galerija / Museum of Modern Art presents selected works from the Art Collection Telekom in the exhibition 'DON'T DREAM DREAMS'.
‘DON’T DREAM DREAMS’ is an appeal not to take refuge in dreams in the face of growing threats to democracy, the state of our planet, and a terrible war in the heart of Europe. Artists unfold in their works hints and advice on how to experience the complex and contradictory reality in a differentiated understanding. In doing so, they provide directions that can form a basis for thoughtfully and wisely carrying out the actions and deeds that are urgently needed to overcome these crises.
Artists don’t dream, they are dealing intelligently and carefully with the task and challenges of today.

Works by 25 artists from the Art Collection Telekom are on display:

In addition, two artists have been invited to produce new works for the exhibition. Maja Babič Kosir and Lana Čmajčanin, whose neon installation also lends the exhibition its title.

Threats to democracy; authoritarian regimes on the rise; intolerance towards minorities, foreigners and people who hold different views; apathy and indifference in the face of the climate crisis; terrorism and wars of conquest rather than peaceful coexistence – the world has gone off the rails.
Presenting around 80 works by 46 artists, the exhibition Group Therapy is a dialogue, an encounter, an exchange of artistic ideas and concepts, and a juxtaposition of artworks from two different collections. Holdings from – and recent acquisitions for – the collection of Prague City Gallery (GHMP), which was established in 1963 and comprises more than 16,000 items, are brought together here with pieces from Art Collection Telekom, which was launched by Deutsche Telekom in 2010 to promote and collect contemporary art from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.
Current issues and accounts of lived reality are central to this dialogue. The stories embedded in the artworks are about everyday life, personal hopes and fears, social cohesion and politics, but also explore fundamental questions related to the notion of democracy, democratic values, and the concept of a free and open society. These narratives contextualise the presentation and serve as pointers for the dialogue with and between the pieces on show. In the exhibition, they are encapsulated by the following terms:

Memory – History – Identity
Future Perspectives – Technology

The selected themes and works seek a balance for individuals dealing with frightening challenges posed by the major conflicts of our time. What images shape memories and create history, on both a personal and a societal level? How can peaceful coexistence be achieved? What influence will technological advances, digitisation and artificial intelligence have? What does the future of the planet look like? Do private dreams and personal mythologies still have a role to play? Can individuals contribute towards shaping history? How do we react to war, and what position do we take towards totalitarian regimes, segregation and exclusion? How do we cope with the pressures, injuries and traumas we experience?

'Privacy Settings' at KVOST is Aneta Grzeszykowska's first solo exhibition in Berlin. It offers insight into various bodies of work from the 2000s to the present and explores the interplay between intimacy and publicity, original and copy, self-image and external perception.

The starting point of Aneta Grzeszykowska's works is the construction, mutability, and questionability of one's own 'identity. She plays with presence and absence, fragmentation, superficiality, the external image of oneself, and the internal perception of oneself, which is constantly changing.

Bodies cast shadows – at least when they stand in the light.
The shadow is a reflection of the body, that part of it which the light does not touch, swallowed, in a sense, by the light itself. It reveals the outline, the silhouette – a tangible form that is at once poetic and visually charged. In the shadow, stories and notions of the body coalesce, stretching far beyond the merely physical.
‘Shadows of the Body’ brings together such representations of the human and humanoid body, as well as the imaginings of the corporeal, in works by eight artists from the Art Collection Telekom.
The exhibited works range from an astronaut harvesting plants on a distant planet to a robot made of heavy metal parts, bearing delicate butterfly wings. A circle of tightly bound shirts in a dance, gestures towards a community whose solidarity transcends the physical. A tearful fountain with long flowing hair symbolises the inner workings of the body – moved by emotions that stir beneath the surface.
A sofa with hair replacing the usual fringe and a refined hat form an ironic counterpoint to the bourgeois gentleman’s study, once the epitome of taste. A silhouette, as though cut from paper, evokes a character from a video game, recently awarded a thistle as a magical bonus. A pillar made from high-tech plastics cradles a small partridge in its robotic hands – a fragile gesture amidst technological strength.
The body appears in a state of excitation – guided by organs, by the brain, by sex. It is both shell and vessel, an intelligent and soulful being that cannot move forward without its legs.
These shadows point back to the essence: to the image we form of our bodies. Beyond the distortions of the media, the daily self-optimisation, and the polished portrayals in social networks, the exhibition asks what remains – when the light fades and the shadow takes shape.
Shadows of the Body is the fourth presentation of Art Collection Telekom within the Art Festival Hallen.
